Cross-device world
Employees today are using at least three different kinds of mobile devices – tablets, Smartphones and other mobile phones. Traditional laptops or desktops are generally used to generate information, tablets to grab and Smartphones to communicate that information with colleagues or co-workers within the organization. In that case, it has become imperative for the enterprises consider the different form factors and capabilities of the different mobile devices whenever designing or planning mobility strategy.

2013 is going to be the year of a variety of apps

During the year of 2012, almost all of the organizations or enterprises were concentrating to manage the initial push towards the concept of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). On the other hand, Apple, Android and Windows Tablets and Smartphones were replacing the BlackBerry devices in the corporate world. And IT industry was struggling to cope up with this change and allow a basic mobile access to the employees within the organization.

In 2013, organizations will concentrate more on bringing sophisticated mobile functionality that will have strong similarities with the consumer apps perceived by the employees with the help of Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies. These technologies will make it possible for the non-IT workers to establish a bi-directional enterprise to mobile interactivity within a couple of minutes.

Such mobile enterprise apps will enable users to access and communicate with real-time data on their own mobile device. Moreover, it will bring enormous scalability, supporting and delivering mobile access to the various tasks used by the workers within an enterprise.

No more MDM, instead its all about MAM
Diversity in the mobile devices has become a standard, and this has led a huge shift from the mobile device management to the mobile application management (MAM). Moreover, it has widen the mobility solutions to incorporate tons of other capabilities and a far better user experience.

The popularity of the HTML 5 based mobile apps will reach sky high!
Today, there are three mobile platforms including iOS, Android and Windows are ruling the mobile app world. However, the unavailability of the of the mutual platform, it would be quite expensive and time consuming for the enterprises to go for native apps. Enterprises and customers will go for web apps that offers the same level of features and functionality with a better user experience. According to the Gartner, as the HTML platform will get mature, there will be a huge shift from native apps to the web apps.
Virtualization and cloud will be a big deal

Existing BYOD users are using app containers and encrypted wrappers to control the way data is being used within a mobile device. However, as the data resides on the mobile devices, IT administrators are not so satisfied as the data are not 100% secured. However, this year we can expect organizations to experiment with innovative approaches to store data locally on the mobile devices with the help of Virtualization and cloud based applications.
